Guide to Advocating for Yourself and Your Community's Health

In this panel discussion, we will explore the challenges individuals encounter in accessing healthcare, including disparities and diagnosis mismanagement, and provide insights on effective advocacy strategies. The session will feature a compelling case study detailing a woman's journey through the complexities of a brain tumor diagnosis and shedding light on the importance of empowerment and informed decision making in healthcare navigation. Additionally, this session will share a physician/professor's strategies around advocating for better healthcare for those you love, and a Yale expert's reflections on systemic changes that could improve all of our abilities to provide and receive optimized care.

Panelists:

Lilly Farahnakian, JD ‘99, Global Chief Officer, Grosvenor Capital Management

Beth A. Jones, MPH ‘86, PhD ‘93, Research Scientist and Lecturer, Yale School of Public Health

Erica Frank, MD, MPH, FACPM, ‘90, Physician and Professor in the Faculties of Medicine and Arts, at the University of British Columbia
