YaleWomenDC at the Yale Day of Service
Saturday, May 7, 2016, 930am-1pm
One of our members, Francesca Cook (MPH ‘88) regularly supports one of the Yale Day of Service sites, A Wider Circle, so we encourage members to meet up on May 7th at A Wider Circle. Details about this service site are available on Yale Day of Service website at: http://yaledayofservice.org/find-service-site/silver-spring-wider-circle-1 A Wider Circle serves individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness. Most of the clients live in apartments that are nearly empty and sleep on the floor and store their clothes in plastic bags. Volunteers are encouraged to help the clients select and pack items and hardy volunteers can also help them load up their cars, vans and trucks. (The Yale Day of Service includes sites throughout the city if this location is not convenient for you.)
About the Yale Day of Service: In the spring of 2015, at nearly 300 sites around the world, members of the Yale community helped to make their neighborhoods a better place by participating in the Yale Day of Service. This year, the Yale Club of Washington is hosting a wide range of service opportunities, making a direct difference in our local community. Please join us on May 7, 2016. This is a great opportunity to serve at your local community organization, join a local cause, or start serving. Site Coordinators are needed and we welcome family friendly, young-alumni, and a wide range of service sites. Interested? Contact René Jones MPH ‘07, Vice President of Community Service and Regional Coordinator for Yale Day of Service.
