First female editor-in-chief of the Yale Daily News, Anne Gardiner Perkins ’81 chronicles the introduction of undergraduate coed education at Yale in her recently published book, Yale Needs Women. Her account based in five years of archival research tells the behind-the-scenes administration story that challenges a “sanitized tale of equity instantly achieved” and includes narratives of those who matriculated in 1969 while outnumbered seven to one.
Anne will be at the Tattered Cover in LoDo, 1628 16th Street, Denver, for a book talk and signing starting at 7:00 pm. After the event, interested Yalie attendees go across the street to the nearby Union Station to meet with Anne. The Great Hall offers libations and food, and the open seating area accommodates mixing with fellow alum. Please RSVP to Stephanie Grilli, letting her know if you plan to join the group after the Tattered Cover: [email protected]. Let’s give Anne a Colorado welcome!
