Sign up to volunteer at PAWS Chicago Adoption Center! This service opportunity is capped at 20 volunteers, so sign up as soon as possible below.
The PAWS center is a 13,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the adoption of Chicago's homeless animals. It is cage-free; the only cage-free facility in the Midwest. Daily, PAWS has between 35-50 dogs in the 25 dog rooms and 50-70 cats in the 10 cat rooms. Since the Center opened in September 2007, over 15,000 dogs and cats have found forever homes.
The volunteer experience will include a brief orientation to PAWS Chicago followed by cleaning duties (folding laundry, cleaning windows or doing dishes) or miscellaneous projects (assembling adoption folders or information packets, putting together cones needed for spay/neuter surgeries, etc.). After your hard work, you will get the opportunity to socialize with a few of the homeless dogs and cats!
Because volunteers will have animal contact, rubber-soled closed-toe shoes and long pants/sleeves are a must. Volunteers should avoid wearing dangling jewelry, as well as perfume/cologne since some pets react negatively to new odors. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and are required to sign a waiver of liability.
