YW/Chicago: Terrain Exhibition is coming to Margot McMahon's front yard. Terrain Biennial is an international exhibition of yards shared for artists to install a sculpture. Karen Gubitz has installed her sculpture in Margot's front yard, 310 S. Humphrey. Margot installed sculptures in Karen's yard at 232 N. Ridgeland and Erie (se corner).
-- WHAT IS THE TERRAIN BIENNIAL? In 2013, Terrain held its first Terrain Biennial, widening its reach and inviting neighbors to open their yards to artists projects- a suburban version of the international art biennial, such as the Venice Biennial. The opening reception was in the form of a block party, with performances all throughout the day. It is now time to celebrate the 2nd Terrain Biennial! This year, we have expanded to include host yards from across the Chicago area – in the Chicago Loop, Logan Square, Pilsen, River Forest, Riverside and Oak Park, to Dallas, TX.; Los Angeles, CA. and Denmark. Terrain Exhibitions has received attention in the international press for exhibitions that include: Art in America, Hyperallergic, Bad at Sports, Artslant as well as local publications such as The Oak Park Leaves in Oak Park, IL www.terrainexhibitions.tumblr.com
